amazon.ca and amazon.com are two separate stores
This is the big one. amazon.ca and amazon.com aren't one store with two flags. They have their own storefronts, their own product pages, their own prices and their own earnings. As a Canadian creator, you can earn on both, and they work separately.
- Your amazon.ca earnings are in Canadian dollars. Your amazon.com earnings are in US dollars.
- Each store has its own Associates account and store ID.
- A video you post on one store doesn't automatically appear on the other.
Post your videos on both stores
If you post only on amazon.com, Canadian shoppers on amazon.ca never see that video, and the reverse is true too. Posting the same video on both stores is one of the easiest ways to get more out of work you've already done.
Before you post, check the product is actually sold on the other store. Many are, often under the same ASIN (Amazon's product number), but not all.
Watch your prices and currencies
The same product can cost quite differently on each store, and it's easy to mix up US and Canadian dollars when you compare. When you work out what a sale pays, use the price on the store where the sale happens, in that store's currency. A product that's a great pick on amazon.com may be a poor one on amazon.ca, or the other way around.
Creator Connections from Canada
Creator Connections campaigns run on amazon.com. Not every campaign is open to creators in Canada, so check eligibility before you plan a video around one. When you find one that's open to you, it can pay well on top of your amazon.ca earnings. How to choose good campaigns.
Check your video placement on both stores
Because they're separate stores, your video can be in the top carousel on amazon.com and not show at all on amazon.ca. Check both. Why placement matters.
The Canadian advantage
Fewer creators make videos for amazon.ca, so many Canadian product pages have far fewer videos than their US versions. That means less competition for you. It's worth filming for the Canadian store on purpose, not just as an afterthought.
