How to find Creator Connections campaigns worth joining

Not every campaign is a good deal. Here's what I check before I accept one, and how I ask brands for samples.

What Creator Connections is

Creator Connections is an Amazon program where brands pay creators extra commission for featuring their products. Each campaign has a commission rate, an end date and a limited number of creator spots. When you accept a campaign and post content for those products, you earn the campaign commission on sales during the campaign.

It can be a great way to earn more from the same work. But some campaigns are much better than others.

The 6 things to check before you accept

1. Days left

You need time to get the product, film, edit, upload and then let the video earn. A campaign ending in four days rarely leaves enough of that. I look for campaigns with weeks left, not days.

2. Spots left

Campaigns limit how many creators can join. A campaign with only a couple of spots left fills quickly, so decide fast. A full campaign isn't always gone forever: spots can open up again when creators drop out.

3. Dollars per sale, not just the percentage

Work out what one sale pays: price times commission. A 25% campaign on a $10 item pays $2.50 a sale. A 12% campaign on a $60 item pays $7.20. The second one is usually the better campaign.

4. Does the product sell?

Open the product and check "bought in the past month" and the Best Seller Rank. A big commission on a product nobody buys still earns nothing.

5. How many videos does it already have?

Popular campaigns attract lots of creators, so the product page can fill up with videos fast. Fewer videos means a better chance yours gets seen. Here's why the top carousel matters.

6. Can you get the product?

You either buy it, already own it, or ask the brand for a sample. Before buying, make sure the numbers above make the purchase worth it.

How to ask a brand for a sample

Many brands are happy to send samples to creators who join their campaign. Keep your message short, friendly and specific. Something like:

Hi! I joined your campaign for the [product] and I'd love to make a video showing it in use. I post on my Amazon storefront and on [your social platform]. Would you be able to send a sample? Thank you!

A few tips that help:

  • Mention the exact product, so the brand doesn't have to guess.
  • Say what kind of video you'll make.
  • Don't send the same brand five messages. Follow up once after a few days if you hear nothing.
  • Keep track of who you asked, who replied and what arrived.

Don't forget the products you already own

Some of the easiest campaigns are for products already sitting in your house. Check your Amazon order history for things you bought but never filmed, and look for campaigns on them. No waiting for samples.

A note for Canadian creators

Creator Connections campaigns run on amazon.com, and not every campaign is open to creators in Canada. Check that a campaign is open to you before you plan around it. More in the Canada guide.

Questions

How many days left is enough?

It depends how fast you can film. If you need to order the product or wait for a sample, look for campaigns with at least a few weeks left so your video has time to earn before the campaign ends.

What happens when a campaign is full?

You can't join until a spot opens. Spots sometimes open again when other creators leave, so it can be worth watching a good campaign.

Do I have to buy the product?

No. You can use a product you already own, buy it, or ask the brand for a sample. Many brands send samples to creators in their campaign.

Can Canadian creators use Creator Connections?

Campaigns run on amazon.com, and some are open to creators in Canada. Check each campaign's eligibility before you plan around it.
